Drug money saved the banks?

According to the Guardian money laundered & then liquidated from the drug trade saved the banking system from collapse a year ago. It is not a coincidence that the opium trade has blossomed back to pre-Taliban levels in Afghanistan. It is not a coincidence that before CIA involvment with the Mujahadeen's fight against the Soviets in the 80's, almost all the heroin in the U.S. came from southeast Asia and soon after the CIA got involved, 40% was coming from Afghanistan. This is not a new story. Michael Ruppert has been informing us about it for years. Read up on it in his book, Crossing the Rubicon and his blog, From the Wilderness.
